China cracks down on illegal mobile news apps, Xinhua says

The State Internet Information Office has punished a number of uncertified mobile news applications, some of which distributed pornography and “false information”, Xinhua reported Monday, citing a statement from the office. The apps included Zaker, mobee, chouti, my1510. The report said some of the outlets claimed to offer news deemed inappropriate and columns “not suitable for public places”.
