China’s official manufacturing purchasing managers’ index edged up to 51.1 in September from 51.0 in the previous month, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday. A reading above 50 suggests expansion. The index of new orders climbed to 52.8 last month from 52.4 in August, while the new export orders index rose 0.5 points to 50.7. The production index was 0.3 point higher at 52.9 while that for raw materials inventory rose to 48.5 from 48.0 a month earlier.
