China’s software copyright registrations soar, Xinhua says

New software copyright registrations reached 140,000 in 2012, up 27.33 percent from the previous year, Xinhua news agency said Monday, citing a report by the Copyright Protection Center of China. Eastern regions accounted for 80 percent of the copyright registrations, while those from the central and western regions grew 8 and 5 percentage points higher than the national average, respectively, the report said. Registrations for cloud computing software jumped 119 percent to 1,946, while mobile phone gaming application registrations rose 74 percent to 1,739, it added.
