The average price of new homes in 100 major Chinese cities rose 1.07 percent from August to 10,554 yuan (US$1,724) per square meter in September, representing a 16th consecutive monthly gain, according data posted on real estate website Soufun.com Tuesday. The average was up 9.48 percent on a yearly basis. Beijing registered a 3.75 percent month-on-month, or 26.88 percent year-on-year, gain in prices, data showed. The average home price in 10 top-tier cities, including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, rose to 18,179 yuan per square meter, up 13.87 percent from a year earlier.
