Over 300,000 cross Macau border checkpoints Oct 1, paper says

The first day of the October 1 National Day “Golden Week” holiday has seen over 300,000 people cross the three Macau border checkpoints with mainland China, with around 55 percent of them being tourists from the mainland, Macao Daily News reported Wednesday. Meanwhile, some popular restaurants, dessert and snacks stalls in the Macau’s Taipa area have reported 20 to 30 percent growth in sales year on year during the first day of the holiday, it said. Several drugstore owners said sales during the first day were in line with their expectations, the report said.
