Taiwan eases curbs on investments in mainland, paper says

Taiwan has lifted the ban on the building of naphtha cracking plants in the mainland, the United Daily News reported Wednesday, citing a statement issued Tuesday by the island’s Ministry of Economic Affairs. Taiwanese investors must own more than 50 percent of such facilities, the statement said. The ministry has also agreed to loosen restrictions on mergers and acquisitions and stake purchases in the mainland by local makers of chip wafers and flat panels, the report said.
