Taiwan’s DPP plans action against Ma over wiretaps, paper says

Taiwan’s opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is preparing to launch a campaign in the island’s legislature against President Ma Ying-jeou {馬英九} over government wiretaps, the United Evening News reported Tuesday. DPP chairman Su Tseng-chang {蘇貞昌} said the action in two weeks’ time could include an attempt to overthrow the cabinet and remove Ma from the presidency. Prosecutor general Huang Shih-ming said earlier that Ma expelled Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng from the ruling Kuomintang party and dumped him as head of the legislature based on evidence from phone taps that Huang reported to Ma, the report said.
