Taiwan’s 100 bln yuan RQFII quota suspended, paper says

Taiwan has been unable to invest under the Renminbi Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor program, for which it was granted a 100 billion yuan (US$16.33 billion) quota, because the cross-strait service agreement has yet to be approved by its parliament, Want Daily reported Thursday, citing the island’s central bank governor Perng Fai-nan. Beijing has promised to give Taiwan such a quota in the first year after the agreement takes effect, higher than the initial quota of 20 billion yuan granted to Hong Kong, the report said.
