Danone claims 200 mln euros for Fonterra milk scare, report says

Danone SA is demanding at least 200 million euros (US$272 million) in compensation from Fonterra Cooperative Group Ltd., Bloomberg News reported Friday, citing a statement from the French food maker. Danone said the compensation amount is an estimation of the immediate costs caused by the recall of Fonterra’s infant formula products from eight markets. In August, Fonterra said the products might have been affected by a contaminated whey protein ingredient, although New Zealand authorities later said tests showed the food safety scare was a false alarm.
