Holidaymakers warned some US attractions closed, Xinhua says

China’s National Tourism Administration said in a statement on Thursday that tourists going to the United States should be aware that a number of US attractions have been closed since Oct. 1 as a result of the congressional deadlock in the talks over the country’s budget, the official Xinhua news agency reported Thursday. Famous attractions such as the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island have been temporarily shut down since Tuesday, while visitors to national parks, such as Yosemite, Yellowstone and the Great Smoky Mountains, are also likely to be disappointed, the report said.
