Air China, a leading mainland carrier, has denied it served expired beef pancakes on a domestic flight, sickening at least a dozen passengers, the South China Morning Post reported Tuesday. Incorrect packaging was to blame for the “misunderstanding”, an Air China spokeswoman was quoted as saying. Air China discards leftover and out-of-date food and would never reuse them, the report said. The news made national headlines after a passenger from Xinjiang’s Hami city to Beijing shared her experience in a blog post. A photo of the packaged food she posted shows an expiration date of Oct. 2, four days before her flight date, the report said.
