China’s first-tier cities, including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, saw home sales grow during the National Day holiday, China Securities Journal reported Monday, citing figures from local housing authorities. Beijing sold 827 units between Oct. 1 and Oct. 6, of which 783 were new homes, nearly double from a year earlier. Guangzhou saw 716 units change hands during the period, also higher than last year, while Shenzhen cleared 163 units, the lowest for the period in recent years. Home sales in Shanghai also exceeded those during the same period last year, some industry sources were quoted as saying.
