President Xi Jinping said China is willing to sacrifice faster economic growth for structural reform, the South China Morning Post reported Tuesday. However, he said China cannot afford to make mistakes and will introduce reform in a systematic way. Xi made the comments on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Bali and came ahead of next month’s Communist Party plenum which is expected to roll out his administration’s reform program. The slowdown in China’s economy has been the result of “controlled adjustments” and that there is no danger of a hard landing, Xi was quoted as saying.
