Shipping lanes unaffected by South China Sea rows, Xinhua says

Premier Li Keqiang {李克強} said key international shipping lanes have not been affected by the territorial disputes in the South China Sea, Xinhua reported late Tuesday, citing an interview Li conducted with Southeast Asian media. The premier said China places high importance on the freedom of navigation in the South China Sea and will work with ASEAN countries to ensure the safe passage of vessels in the area. China will also continue to push for and take part in regional maritime cooperation, including collaboration on security, and uphold peace in the region.
