Shijiazhuang to close cement grinding plants, paper says

Shijiazhuang, capital of north China’s Hebei province, will suspend cement makers that fail to meet environmental standards by the end of the month and close all cement grinding plants by the end of the year, National Business Daily reported Friday, citing unnamed sources. The move is aimed at improving air quality. Cement prices rose between 20 yuan (US$3.26) and 30 yuan per metric ton during the National Day holiday after the announcement was made, industry insiders were quoted as saying.
