China Sept new loans at 787 bln yuan, M2 up 14.2%, PBoC says

Chinese banks extended 787 billion yuan (US$128.79 billion) in new local-currency loans in September, an increase of 164.4 billion yuan from a year earlier, the People’s Bank of China (PBoC) said Monday. M2, a broad measure of money supply, rose 14.2 percent at end-September from a year ago, topping the official full-year target of a 13 percent gain, according to a statement on the central bank’s website. Aggregate financing, which tracks society-wide funding activities, was 13.96 trillion yuan between January and September, up 2.24 trillion yuan from the same period last year, the PBoC said.
