Cargo throughput in major ports up 10.3% in Jan-Sept, govt says

Cargo throughput in the nation’s major ports rose 10.3 percent year on year to 7.94 billion metric tons in the nine months to September, compared with a 9.9 percent growth in the first half and 6.3 percent rise in the same period last year, data from the Ministry of Transport showed. Cargo throughput in coastal ports was up 10.4 percent at 5.45 billion metric tons during the nine-month period, while that in inner ports rose 10 percent to 2.48 billion metric tons. Foreign trade cargo throughput increased by 9.9 percent, compared with a 7.9 percent rise in the first half, the data showed.
