Cement price seen rising on output cuts, paper says

Cement prices may keep rising for some time amid production cuts and market anticipation of further price hikes, Shanghai Securities News reported Wednesday, citing industry insiders. According to the newspaper’s in-house research, cement prices on average rose 1.88 percent last week from the previous week, while an increase of up to 40 yuan (US$6.55) per metric ton was seen in Shanghai, Nanjing and Guangdong province. The State Council on Tuesday issued guidelines to address overcapacity in five sectors, namely cement, electrolytic aluminum, sheet glass, shipping and steel, the report said.
