China in for tough 5-year economic transition, paper says

The next five to eight years will be a difficult transitional period for China’s economy as the country weeds out overcapacity, Economic Information Daily reported Wednesday, citing National Development and Reform Commission researcher Zhang Yansheng. Zhang said if the transition is a success, China could be set for another golden phase of development that could span 30 years. If it’s not, it will mean lost long-term growth potential, the report said.
