Cross-strait standard eyed for 5G, cloud computing, paper says

Mainland China and Taiwan are expected to sign an agreement on a common standard for fifth-generation (5G) telecommunications and cloud computing during an industry forum in Taipei next Monday, Shanghai Securities News reported Wednesday, citing Chen Ruey-long, chairman of the island’s SINOCON Industrial Standards Foundation. The standard can be adopted nationally or globally, Chen was quoted as saying. The mainland delegation will be led by Yang Xueshan, vice minister of industry and information technology, the report said.
