NDRC raises grid prices for gas-powered electricity, paper says

The National Development and Reform Commission said Tuesday that it will lower electricity grid prices across 27 provinces by up to 2.5 fen per kilowatt/hour, and raise grid prices for electricity generated by natural gas in eight provinces and cities, Economic Information Daily reported Wednesday. The rise in the natural gas power grid price will help improve the profit margin of related power companies. The State Council wants natural gas to generate 7.5 percent of the country’s power supply by 2015. Domestic natural gas production will reach 56 million kilowatts by that date, up 30 million kilowatts from the end of the 11th five-year plan period, the report said.
