New foreign-funded firms down 12.7% in 3Q, govt says

The number of newly registered foreign-funded companies in China fell 12.73 percent to 9,100 in the third quarter from a year earlier, according to data released Tuesday by the State Administration of Industry and Commerce (SAIC). The dip was sharper by 5.99 points than in the first half. Some experts expect the declining trend to continue in the short term due to various factors including renminbi’s appreciation and relocation of some foreign firms to Southeast Asia, Beijing Business Today reported Wednesday.
