Apple to cut iPhone 5c orders for Taiwan assemblers, WSJ says

Apple Inc. has told its two Taiwan assemblers, Pegatron Corp. and Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., that it will cut orders this quarter for the iPhone 5c, which has not gained popularity since its launch last month, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the situation. According to the sources, Pegatron, which assembles two-thirds of the iPhone 5cs, was told the order would be cut by less than 20 percent, while Hon Hai, which assembles the remaining 5cs, was told the order would be cut by a third. Both Pegatron Corp. and Hon Hai declined to comment on the report, China Times reported Thursday.
