China may roll out pension reforms in March, paper says

China is likely to roll out a pension reform plan in March next year, as the financial burden from the country’s aging population rises, National Business Daily reported Thursday, citing sources. Several ministries and think tanks led by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security have held closed-door meetings to discuss the reform proposals, looking at ways to narrow the gaps in individual pension accounts and raise the returns on pension fund investments, according to the report. The talks did not cover an idea to delay the age at which people can draw on the pensions.
