Wei Zhigang, former president of PetroChina Co. Ltd.’s (00857.HK, 601857.CN) Indonesian unit, was removed from his post several weeks ago amid an unspecified central government investigation into the executive, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing three industry insiders familiar with the matter. The probe came after the authorities announced a corruption investigation into several executives at the state oil giant. Wei has been replaced by Xue Liangqing, formerly a chief geologist at PetroChina’s international exploration and production unit. A company spokesman said he was not aware of any investigation into Wei, who could not be reached for comment, the report said.
