The People’s Bank of China set the renminbi’s daily midpoint at 6.1431 against the US dollar on Thursday, 23 pips softer than Wednesday’s 6.1408 fixing, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. The renminbi is allowed to rise or fall 1 percent from the daily reference rate. Spot renminbi closed little changed at 6.1025 in Shanghai on Wednesday after trading between 6.0965 and 6.1061. The redback has risen 2.32 percent this year, central bank data shows.
