China seeks high-speed rail tie-up with Australia, report says

Premier Li Keqiang (李克强) has voiced hopes that China and Australia will cooperate in the construction of high-speed railways as Australia upgrades its infrastructure, Xinhua news agency reported Thursday. Li made the comments when he met with Australia’s visiting Governor-General Quentin Bryce in Beijing. China offers safe, reliable and advanced technology as well as cost advantages in high-speed railway construction, Li said. He also said the two nations should respect each other’s core interests and major concerns, strengthen cooperation in various fields, such as energy and investment, and make more progress in advancing bilateral relations, the report said.
