Mainland visitors to Taiwan up 15.4% in Jan-Sept, CNS says

The number of mainland visitors to Taiwan in the nine months to September rose 15.4 percent to 1.68 million from a year earlier, the China News Service reported Thursday, citing Liu Kezhi, secretary general of the Association for Tourism Exchange Across the Taiwan Straits. Of the total, 1.33 million visitors traveled in groups, down 0.9 percent from a year earlier, while 350,000 traveled as solo tourists, up 210.8 percent, Liu told a press conference in Taipei on Thursday. A total of 7.92 million people made cross-strait visits last year, the report said.
