Taiwan bans mainland-made 4G equipment, paper says

Taiwan will ban all mainland 4G telecommunications equipment from use on the island on national security grounds, the Commercial Times reported Thursday, citing a decision made by Taiwan’s legislature Thursday. Taiwan previously only prohibited use of mainland-made core telecommunications equipment but not base stations. Taiwan is set to issue 4G telecommunications licenses, and some service providers were planning to use mainland products because they are cheaper, the report said.
