‘Forced shopping’ ban dismays some tourists, paper says

A growing number of outbound tourists are opposed to a ban on “forced shopping” which went into effect on Oct. 1, Beijing Business Today reported Monday, citing sources from several travel agencies. Industry players said the new policy lacks details and called for clear-cut regulations as soon as possible, the report said. China’s outbound travel market is expected hit US$120 billion this year, half of it from shopping purchases, the report said, citing the China Travel Academy.
