Govt to revise coastal port planning, paper says

The Ministry of Transport is considering changes to coastal port planning to bring it into line with China’s economic development, Economic Information Daily reported Monday, quoting Chen Yingming, vice chairman of China Ports and Harbours Association. These include integration of port operations in the Pearl River Delta region. China’s port development plan, originally published in 2006, has failed to keep pace with breakneck growth in the economy and should be updated to meet demand, Di Lindong, deputy secretary general of the association, was quoted as saying.
