An index of Beijing’s labor demand came in at 106.4 in the third quarter, down 3.5 points from the previous three months and 3.9 points lower than a year earlier, Beijing Business Today reported Tuesday, citing research by the municipal statistics bureau. The index was the lowest for the quarter in the past four years. The sub-index for the construction sector fell 16.7 points from the previous quarter while that for the real estate sector was up 0.8 points. Firms with less labor demand accounted for 11 percent of those surveyed, up 2.2 points from the previous quarter, the report said.
