Coalbed gas output target seen hard to achieve, paper says

Production and usage of coalbed methane gas are currently growing at a slower pace in China and some industry insiders are beginning to worry whether the government’s output target can be achieved in the current five-year plan period through 2015, National Business Daily reported Tuesday, citing a research report by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. According to the research, production growth since last year has been lower than the average pace seen over the past five years while the total amount of usage has been down 1.9 percentage points. Production last year was 12.5 billion cubic meters, compared to the 2015 target of 30 billion cubic meters, the report said.
