Taiwan firms’ mainland investment slips 18%, paper says

Taiwan firms saw their investment in the mainland fall 18 percent to US$690 million in September from a year earlier, down for a fifth month in a row, Want Daily reported Tuesday, citing figures from the island’s Ministry of Economic Affairs. Investment in the year to September slumped 21.02 percent year on year to US$6.35 billion, partly due to ongoing economic transformation in the mainland, the report said. Meanwhile, mainland investment in Taiwan rose 137.26 percent year on year to US$331.28 million in the first nine months, the report said.
