Taiwan to lift China investment curbs in demo biz, paper says

Taiwan will soon pass special measures to lift restrictions on mainland investments in demonstration businesses in the planned free economic zones in the island, Want Daily reported Tuesday, citing an unnamed Taiwan official. According to the measures, which are separate from the other rules set for the zones, any mainland investment deemed as a demonstration business only requires approval, without being restricted by the existing list of allowable investment categories. The official said some of the demonstration businesses are in fact allowed to be operated on the entire island, and not just restricted to the zones, the report said.
