A draft amendment to China’s environmental protection law would make it easier to file public interest lawsuits against polluters, China Daily reported Wednesday. Under the proposal, agencies registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs for at least five straight years and with a good reputation will be able to sue polluters. Previously, only the All-China Environmental Federation could file such lawsuits. if the amendment passes, 13 agencies would be qualified to take such action, the report said.
