CNOOC eyes venture with Filipino firm in disputed sea, SCMP says

State-owned China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) is in talks with a Filipino-British company to jointly explore for oil and gas in the Reed Bank, a disputed offshore area claimed by China and the Philippines, the South China Morning Post reported Wednesday. The talks between CNOOC and London-based Forum Energy are at a preliminary stage, Philippine Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla was quoted as saying. A commercial agreement could be reached despite the long-standing territorial dispute between Manila and Beijing, the report said.
