AmCham warns of tests for Chinese investment in US, paper says

Chinese firms wanting to invest in major infrastructure projects in the United States face a series of big challenges, Economic Information Daily reported Friday, citing an American Chamber of Commerce in China report. US energy, transport, water and sewage projects could offer up to US$8 trillion in investment opportunities for Chinese investors between now and 2030, with the energy sector accounting for 57 percent of those prospects. But, Chinese firms will confront national security concerns; potential unfriendly sentiment from local residents; quality and safety assurance problems; the lack of a legal framework to resolve product or service quality disputes; and China’s inability to provide long-term after-sales and product warranty services, the report said.
