The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will add seven new internet backbone nodes, bringing the total to 10 nationwide, news website caixin.com reported Thursday, citing Zhu Jun, deputy director general of the Department of Telecommunication Development. These will be in Chengdu, Wuhan, Xi’an, Shenyang, Nanjing, Chongqing and Zhengzhou. The new additions will complement the internet infrastructure in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, the report said. The government will cut settlement fees between networks and expand the bandwidth as part of plans to speed up internet development, the report said.
