A foundation for leukaemia sufferers said it has become the first non-official charity in Beijing to win permission to raise money directly from the public, the South China Morning Post reported Friday. The New Sunshine Charity Foundation held a fundraising event in Beijing after winning approval from authorities, the report said. The foundation is one of two operators of bone marrow banks in the mainland. The other, Chinese Marrow Donor Programme, is run by the official China Red Cross Foundation, the report said.
