Foreign investment in Tianjin up 15.8% Jan-Sept, Xinhua says

The Tianjin Municipal Commission of Commerce said 450 direct investment projects that involved foreign capital were approved during the nine months to September, involving total investment of US$12.654 billion, Xinhua news agency reported Monday. Such investment represents an increase of 15.77 percent over the same period last year, it said. During the nine months, companies on the Fortune 500 list, such as The Dow Chemical Company, Shell and Volkswagen, proposed to invest in 25 projects in Tianjin, putting in a total of US$1.77 billion. Of the projects, 11 were in manufacturing, accounting for US$660 million, while 14 were in the service industry involving a total of US$1.11 billion, the report said.
