Shanghai to trim FTZ’s off-limits list, paper says

Restrictions will be loosened eventually on businesses allowed in the Shanghai free trade zone (FTZ), National Business Daily reported Monday, quoting the city’s mayor, Yang Xiong {楊雄}. Yang said that as the zone opens up, policies will become more specific and the list of activities that are off-limits will shorten. The mayor said the authorities managing the zone, which covers 28.78 square kilometers, have fielded nearly 30,000 corporate and personal inquiries in the past month and the zone’s website had had about 1.8 million hits a day, the report said.
