Three killed in Tiananmen vehicle crash, Xinhua says

A driver and two passengers were killed when their wayward jeep plowed into a crowd and caught fire in front of Tiananmen Rostrum in Beijing Monday noon, Xinhua news agency reported. Several visitors to the tourist spot and police officers were injured, the report said. The fire was quickly extinguished, and streets leading to the square were blocked, news radio channel FM100.6 said on its official microblog.
