As many as 208 companies set up in the Shanghai free trade zone between October 1 and 27, almost four times the 44 registrations in the same district over the same time last year, Xinhua reported Monday, citing data from the Shanghai Administration for Industry and Commerce. Of the new companies, 188 are domestic firms, while 20 are from overseas. The companies’ registered capital ranges from US$79 million down to 30,000 yuan (US$4,929), according to the city officials. Meanwhile, some 1,528 companies are in the process of registering operations in the zone, the report said.
