Energy demand growth to halve after 2020, Xinhua says

Growth in China’s energy demand is expected to fall to 1.8 percent from 2020 to 2030 as the country’s economic growth declines to 5.3 percent annually, Xinhua reported Tuesday, citing Yang Qing, deputy general manager of State Grid Corp. Energy demand growth is projected to be more than 4 percent from 2010 to 2020, Yang said. To boost energy efficiency, non-fossil fuels are expected to generate 11.4 percent of the country’s energy by 2015, the report said.
