Erdos coal miners halt production amid weak demand, CNS says

Some coal miners in Erdos, in northern China’s Inner Mongolia region, have halted production amid weak demand, the China News Service reported Tuesday, citing local government officials. So far, 48 coal mines, accounting for 15.5 percent of the region’s output, have suspended production, the report said. Coal miners are suffering from falling profits and operating difficulties as coal prices decline amid weakening downstream demand, it said.
