Imax teams up with TCL on home theater systems, paper says

Imax Corp., known for its large-screen cinema equipment, has formed a joint venture with TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings Ltd. (01070.HK) to develop and manufacture home theater systems worth US$250,000 each in China, the New York Times reported Wednesday, citing a statement from the Canadian company. China will be Imax’s largest market for home theater systems, chief executive Richard Gelfond told the newspaper in a telephone interview. Low manufacturing costs in China were also a factor in making its decision, Gelfond was quoted as saying.
