Imported iron ore stockpiles mount, Xinhua says

Stockpiles of iron ore at 25 major mainland ports grew again last week, marking the third consecutive week of growth, Xinhua reported Tuesday. Inventories of imported iron ore stood at 76.53 million metric tons in the week to Oct. 28, up 1.24 million tons, or 1.64 percent, from the previous week, the report said. The price index for iron ore imports with a 62-percent purity grade dropped two points to 133 as weak demand from steelmakers translated into sluggish trading volume, it report said.
