Mobile shoppers double spending in 3Q, Xinhua says

Mainland shoppers spent 34.1 billion yuan (US$5.59 billion) online using their mobile phones in the third quarter, Xinhua reported Tuesday, citing an Analysys International reportThe total was 17.1 percent more than the previous quarter and more than double the figure for the corresponding period in 2012, the report said. Taobao, China’s leading online retail platform, maintained its top position with about 80 percent of the mobile shopping market, followed by e-commerce site Jingdong with 8.7 percent.
