General Motors Co. (GM), the US’ biggest carmaker, sold 744,000 units in China in the third quarter, up from 663,000 units at the same time last year, the company said in a statement on its website Wednesday. But GM’s market share in China was down 0.3 percentage point to 14.6 percent. GM posted US$700 million in third-quarter net income, down from US$1.5 billion in the same period last year. GM said an improvement in operating performance was offset by a net loss from special items and incremental tax expenses. Net revenue for the period was US$39 billion, compared with US$37.6 billion a year earlier, the statement said.
